According to the researchers, Tinder users tend to believe that there is always someone better around the corner and continue swiping the screen. The effect is that the users begin to question their own worth.

The act of the users being scrutinized, evaluated, and objectified will often make people, especially women, more conscious of their bodies and will lead to feelings of anxiety, depression, and general psychological distress.
