Apicectomy/Hemisection
In some clinical cases where an old root canal (endodontics) treatment has failed, an apicectomy or hemisection of the roots may be advised. In these clinical cases, the surgical procedure involves accessing any infection via the gum. The infection or root is then removed with the aim of saving the natural tooth.
Oral Biopsy
Small lumps and bumps may be removed in clinical under local anaesthesia and sent for a biopsy. If any lesion appears pigmented or precancerous we would always recommend a referral to our local maxillofacial surgeon on island through a 2 week pathway.
Gingival Crown Lengthening
Gingival crown lengthening comes in many different forms, some involve removal of the gum (gingivae) only, and some involve removal of the bone and the gum.
Full assessment and discussion will be completed prior to any gingival crown lengthening.
