How do I identify a skin lesion?
Any abnormal growths, discolouration or other changes to the skin may indicate the presence of disease. It is important to understand that simply stating a diagnosis based on sight is impossible, and we will always encourage a biopsy where appropriate.
Any skin lesion should be investigated. At Tracey Bell, we will ensure the best advice is provided, personalised to your specific condition. We discuss the options available for removal and ensure the right referral is made.
In cases of suspected skin cancer, a referral to the Dermatology services on the Isle of Man will always be recommended and the appropriate referral made.

What happens when a skin lesion is removed?
Typically, a provisional diagnosis will be made by the aesthetic practitioner. If a skin cancer is suspected, a service is operated whereby a referral via a 2 week system is made to the NHS. If the lesion appears benign, a biopsy will always be advised and recommended.
We use local anaesthetic in the affected area to remove the lesion, which is then sent for a biopsy.
