Getting Started

Before diving into the specific instructions for Wegovy and Mounjaro, let’s cover a few general principles that apply to both pens:

1. Follow the Clinician’s Instructions
   Your dosage will be carefully determined by your clinician based on your weight loss goals and medical needs. Always use the dosage prescribed and avoid deviating from your plan.
2. Choose the Right Injection Site
   Both pens are designed for subcutaneous (under the skin) injections. The recommended sites include:
   • The abdomen (avoiding the navel).
   • The thighs (front or outer side).
   • The upper arm (back of the arm, though assistance may be needed).
3. Rotate Injection Sites
   To minimise discomfort and reduce the risk of irritation, use a different injection site each week. For example, if you use your abdomen this week, consider using your thigh next week.
4. Keep the Pen at the Right Temperature
   Both Wegovy and Mounjaro pens must be stored in the fridge. Avoid freezing them. If the pen has been out of the fridge for more than a few hours, contact us before using it.

How to Inject Wegovy

Wegovy is a prefilled pen that is simple to use. Here’s how:

1. Prepare the Pen
   • Wash your hands thoroughly.
   • Take the Wegovy pen out of the fridge and let it reach room temperature (around 30 minutes).
   • Check the expiration date on the pen and inspect the liquid—it should be clear and colourless.
2. Prepare the Injection Site
   • Clean the chosen site with an alcohol swab and let it dry completely.
3. Injecting the Medication
   • Remove the cap from the Wegovy pen.
   • Hold the pen at a 90-degree angle to your skin.
   • Press the pen firmly against the skin and hold it there until you hear a “click.” This means the injection has started.
   • Continue holding the pen in place for 5-10 seconds to ensure the full dose is administered.
4. Dispose of the Pen Safely
   • The pen is single-use. Dispose of it in a sharps container provided by the clinic.

How to Inject Mounjaro

Mounjaro pens are also prefilled and slightly different in design, but the process is equally straightforward:

1. Prepare the Pen
   • Wash your hands thoroughly.
   • Take the Mounjaro pen out of the fridge and allow it to reach room temperature for about 30 minutes.
   • Check the expiration date and inspect the liquid—it should be clear and colourless.
2. Prepare the Injection Site
   • Clean the chosen site with an alcohol swab and let it dry.
3. Injecting the Medication
   • Remove the pen cap.
   • Pinch the skin around the injection site to create a firm surface.
   • Hold the pen at a 90-degree angle and press it firmly against the skin.
   • Push the injector button and hold the pen in place. You’ll hear a second click after a few seconds—this indicates that the injection is complete.
   • Continue holding the pen in place for an additional 5 seconds to ensure the full dose is delivered.
4. Dispose of the Pen Safely
   • Like Wegovy, Mounjaro pens are single-use and must be disposed of in a sharps container.

Common Questions and Tips

1. What If I Miss a Dose?
   If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, as long as it’s within 4 days of your scheduled injection. If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule.
2. What If I Feel Nervous About Injecting?

3. What Side Effects Should I Expect?
