Over the last 20 years I have watched the history of Dental Implants evolve; new implants being introduced, new technology and new techniques develop. As a dentist who has placed implants for the last 12 years I’m a great believer that successful Implant treatments come down to:
- Planning dental implants
- The operator (The Dentist)
- The Dental Implant being used
I can only state from a personal point of view that successful Implant placement being a single Implant or full arch treatment planning is the most important, listening to the patient, x-rays, Ct scans (yes I would want a CT scan), study models and restorations. All of this should be done before Implant placement, the product again is down to the individual but personally I would recommend Straumann, Nobel Biocare or Osstem again the patient should always know what they are receiving.
The cost associated as all dental Implants differ in cost the experience of the Dentist is important also, personally I am not trained in bone grafting, sinus lifts or all on 4 but some dentists such as Dr Ivan Santa on the Isle of man can and have completed over 200 sinus lifts and grafts, this allows the dental implant to be placed successfully Aesthetically and functionally.
