This is a blog I really need to keep going but with so many platforms on which to place my thoughts – it’s often a case of Facebook, Insta that’s quick – but for now, I’ll try and follow some law and order posts regularly.
It will be a mix:
- A Little Tooth advice #toothadvisor
- A little Face Skin, Body Content #ageadvisor
- A Little of some of the Courses I’ve completed and the Travels I’ve been on, and of course, my thoughts on life, aesthetic medicine, Regulation, Law and of course, the stories that people and patients relay to me.
- Those stories make my day and often teach me many things in life
In fact, any ideas or topics – let me know!
You’ll have guessed by now that I have lots of interests, I’ve had a brilliant journey, and I simply like people
I suppose I should start at the beginning to update a little about myself – yes, you can read the biography on the website, but your history changes day by day.
So here goes – The Beginning
I was the eldest child of 4, born on the Isle of Man
My mum and dad are both Manx – Jean and Pat
I had a pretty normal upbringing but with one common theme ‘you worked’. You tried your best, you fended for yourself, and you liked animals – ferrets, rabbits, dogs, pigeons, and polecats included.
Mum and dad were taxi drivers at A1 taxis – they still are – pretty remarkable at 70+! But they love their job and people, I suppose like me.
On reflection, I always tried at school – I liked and still like to please. I liked being ‘top of the class’, I liked knowing the answers, and I learnt very early that if I wanted to learn, I had to teach myself and, most of all, be good in class!! The teachers had to like me.
Initially, I wanted to be a vet, then a Doctor and I never thought of dentistry – until to keep me in school (I completed some O levels early – and school started to bore me), I visited the school dentist. Not a bad job, I thought
Animals – tend to die, and that’s sad
Doctors – well, that’s somewhat depressing as no one goes to the doctors saying, ‘hello Dr P, just here feeling great’ – they were all sick – and so you had to refer them – depressing job.
Dentistry – well, in a way, you could start a job and finish it! It was a career with an almost definite outcome, so off I went.
I was the only one of all my brothers and sisters to go to University – they were all clever, they would say they were all compared to me, but they made their choice. I made mine.
4 of my Children have graduated from University, and I’m super proud, but University was part of my life, and in a way, I expected it to be part of theirs – EDUCATION is everything.
I’ll write some other bits about my time at Manchester Dental Hospital, My first VT practice, the opening of Craigend Dental Practice having sold my Sunbed, and my Peugeot 205 as this blog progresses.
I had no idea what would happen on opening the practice – this had to work, it’s the ‘top of the class’ thing again.
The one guy I have to thank is Tony Jones and the Dept of Health who gave me the opportunity of an NHS Number for FREE – this is something that would never happen now and a cause of why we don’t have many NHS dentists (they have to pay for a contract).
I suppose I also tell my kids I had to make sacrifices. I didn’t have it all; in fact, I had absolutely no money at all, and therefore I learned the art of ‘winging it’ and not having it all as I built my business.
So let’s jump to now, as I’m sitting in Cyprus today typing this
I’m 52 years of age.
I have 6 children aged 27-9 years of age.
I’ve been married, divorced and live with my true partner in life, James.
I have 7 Dogs – 5 frenchies, a pug and a schnauzer.
I live on the Isle of Man.
I run businesses in Dentistry, Facial Aesthetics, Aesthetic Medicines, Housing, and Expert Witness work, and I’m trying to find the time to write a play. I love life.
I graduated in Dentistry from Manchester in 1993 – with Honours.
I’ve built various Dental Practices in the UK and the Isle of Man.
I opened Kensington Aesthetic Clinic, providing botox, fillers and laser hair removal in 2003 – I was an early adopter.
I love developing properties and have done since 1995 – I knew nothing but to continue to learn and am even contemplating a Quantity Surveyors course this year.
I left University and remained on the Birmingham Prep panel until approx 2012, evaluating new dental materials. I’ve published many papers.
Since the day I qualified, I have completed courses year after year in cosmetic dentistry, aesthetic medicine, law and cosmetic medicine – I’m still doing it.

You’re sort of getting the point. I like to know why, where, what and when.
I trust no one
I question everything
I don’t always get it right, but when I do, it’s excellent, and when I don’t, I put that down to experience
In business, I’ve learnt that when you do a deal, both sides have to hurt – you hurt a little, I hurt a little, we shake hands, and we are ready to deal again. That’s how you build relationships, contacts and life in general.
I’m a big softy at heart, and having limited barriers met some complete crooks, thieves and pirates along the way – you are all in my book! I love to help people in so many different ways.
So that’s the beginning – we’ve made a start, so let’s see how this goes.
We all have to start somewhere – as if we never start, we certainly are going nowhere! And I like going places as we all should.
