10 Most Asked Questions About Mounjaro

At Tracey Bell Clinic, Isle of Man, interest in Mounjaro is growing rapidly – and for good reason. It’s transforming weight loss journeys for patients across the island. To help you decide whether it’s right for you, we’ve answered the 10 most common questions we’re asked about this treatment.

1. How much is Mounjaro?

At the Tracey Bell Clinic, Mounjaro is £175 per month.

This cost includes:

  • Your private prescription
  • A full medical consultation
  • Weight and body composition analysis using our InBody machine
  • Regular check-ins and support throughout your journey

To secure your initial consultation, a £25 deposit is required. This is fully refundable if you choose not to go ahead after the appointment.

2. Does it really work?

Yes, it does – and the results can be remarkable.

Mounjaro is a dual-action medication that mimics two gut hormones (GLP-1 and GIP), helping to:

  • Reduce appetite and cravings
  • Stabilise blood sugar levels
  • Slow digestion, so you feel full for longer

Many of our patients report noticeable weight loss within the first few weeks – especially when used alongside lifestyle changes.

3. What’s the procedure during the consultation?

Your consultation will include:

  • A full review of your medical history
  • BMI and body fat analysis using our InBody technology
  • Discussion of any medications or health concerns
  • A clear explanation of how Mounjaro works
  • A decision, made with you, about whether the treatment is appropriate and safe

If you’re eligible and choose to go ahead, we’ll show you how to administer your first injection and provide everything you need for home use.

4. What does it do?

Mounjaro supports weight loss by:

  • Regulating hunger and satiety
  • Reducing blood sugar levels
  • Helping you to feel fuller for longer
  • Aiding metabolic balance

It’s especially effective for patients who have struggled with weight loss in the past or have health concerns linked to excess weight.

5. Who is the consultation with?

You’ll be seen by one of our highly trained, medically qualified team members. At Tracey Bell Clinic, consultations are led by:

  • Doctors or
  • Aesthetic nurse prescribers

Each has expertise in weight management and prescribing medications such as Mounjaro. Your care is safe, confidential, and patient-focused.

6. Where do I inject myself?

Mounjaro is taken once a week, using a discreet, pen-style injector. You’ll inject it just under the skin (subcutaneously) in one of the following areas:

  • Stomach
  • Thigh
  • Upper arm

During your consultation, we’ll guide you step-by-step so you feel confident using it at home.

7. What are the side effects?

Most side effects are mild and temporary. These may include:

  • Nausea
  • Constipation or diarrhoea
  • Bloating
  • Loss of appetite
  • Headaches or tiredness

These tend to reduce as your body adjusts. We’ll support you throughout and advise on how to minimise any discomfort.

8. Can I go on it if I’m on medication?

Yes – but it depends on which medication you’re taking.

We carefully assess your full medication history before prescribing. Many people on:

  • Blood pressure tablets
  • Cholesterol medications
  • Metformin or diabetes treatments

can use Mounjaro safely. However, we may need to adjust or monitor use if you’re on certain diabetes drugs like insulin or sulfonylureas.

9. Do I have to change my diet?

You don’t have to – but it’s highly recommended.

Mounjaro works best when paired with healthy lifestyle habits. This includes:

  • Eating balanced meals with lean protein, vegetables, and whole grains
  • Reducing sugar and processed foods
  • Staying hydrated
  • Being active, even with small daily walks

We’re here to guide and encourage you throughout your journey.

10. What is the criteria you have to meet to be allowed on it?

To be eligible, you must meet clinical criteria, which include:

  • A BMI of 30 or more, or
  • A BMI of 27 or more with health-related conditions (such as prediabetes, PCOS, or high blood pressure)
  • No personal or family history of certain thyroid cancers
  • No current eating disorders
  • Being medically well enough to safely begin treatment

Our team will assess everything during your initial consultation to ensure it’s right for you.
