juiceExperts warn that fruit juices contain as much sugar as fizzy drinks. With about 45 percent of adults drinking juices and 20 percent of adults taking smoothies every week, obesity and tooth decay are major areas of concern.

The problem with fruit juices is the lack of fibre that should slow down the absorption fructose. Therefore, sugars in the fruit juices are absorbed immediately, presenting health challenges.

The British Dental Association also confirms the link between fruit juice consumption and tooth decay. People are therefore advised to always take juices with meals. The fruit juices should never be consumed before bedtime. Lastly, people should drink only 100 percent fruit juices without added sugar.
